Frank plays drums, George plays guitar and sings, Paul plays bass and sings, and I play guitar and sing. We play rock’n’roll. We’ve been slogging away, schlepping guitars around the five boroughs and beyond since the ‘90’s, and we haven’t stopped. This band and these songs are, forgive the cliché, a labor of love. It’s been about 25 years of Heap now. We’ve had some very cool people play in the band, and sit in with us. We played at a few legendary places, opened shows for some heavy-hitters and recorded some good records. Persistence pays. We hung in there. We listen to each other, and we don’t play so damned loud anymore. We played out of town gigs, but we never really toured. We’ve got stories and stupid inside jokes anyway. It’s ok. We learned a lot. Just listen. - Tim Heap
“Reassuringly righteous rock & roll” - Peter Detmold, The Reducers
"You know that scene in the ’60’s movie “Ski Party” when the french doors open to the ski chalet and James Brown And His Famous Flames suddenly appear? It’s magic. It’s not unlike the feeling of magic when you hear Tim Heap sing his New York City songs. Wherever he wants to go HEAP takes us there. It’s magic." - Eric “Roscoe” Ambel, Yayhoos, Del Lords
"I never talk about rock musicians or songwriters as being "geniuses". So I'm not gonna say Tim is one of those. But I will say he's as close as they come." Mickey Leigh, Author "I Slept with Joey Ramone"
"Incredible rocking songwriting that comes straight from the heart without a bit of pretension." - Jerry Lehane, The Dogmatics
"Killer songs, riffs, production: it's all there." Tim Lee (Bark, Windbreakers)
"The first good news of 2020 : a new EP from HEAP! Stand Up Guys playing Stand Up Rock & Roll." - Dan Montgomery
“HEAP’s tough pop sensibilities stick in your head... Factor in left-of-the-dial vulnerability and you’ve got something that’s loud and moving.”
- The Village Voice
“They’re like the early Replacements if they grew up in Brooklyn and had Johnny Thunders as a babysitter.”
- Walter Salas-Humara (The Silos)
"NYC's HEAP are the perfect weekend band: loud, energetic and hooky. Fans of Cheap Trick, The Replacements and The Figgs should be all over this one" - Absolute Powerpop
"But don't let comparisons and distinctions distract from great songs...You're gonna dig Heap" - Michael Toland, High Bias
"Absolutely top notch" - The Rock and Roll Report
"This is unabashed rock and roll, sincere and spirited and fueled by girls, partying and beer... Tim Heap has a weathered voice, and he strains and snarls and sighs while he and his mates create and organized racket... HEAP perfectly mixes inspiration, perspiration and passion." - FUFKIN
