No Mas 02:31
All numbed up All dumbed down No dumb luck's been coming round And I've never been the right amount of drunk Or punk Ships that sail do not quit And good luck getting used to it There's love that will not come across But I don't go out looking to get lost No mas When anyone who'd get it's dead And no one left is interested If the walls could talk they would have said Go on you don't need that in your head No mas Ships that sail do not quit And good luck getting used to it There's love that will not come across But I don't go out looking to get lost No mas

Renting 02:52 video
We're all scratching at the corners We're all trying to find a light We're not looking where we're going We're all clogging up the pipes We're all renting and someday Somebody's going to take our place We're all renting and someday Somebody's going to take our place They say hang in there when you're hanging Stick in there where you've gotten stuck And when you keep coming up a loser they say You make your own luck We're all renting and someday Somebody's going to take our place We're all renting and someday Somebody's going to take our place It gets erased And lost in space The place and time The good things I wish I could buy But they ain't mine We're all scratching at the corners We're all trying to find a light We're not looking where we're going We're all clogging up the pipes We're all renting and someday Somebody's going to take our place We're all renting and someday Somebody's going to take our place We're all renting and someday We're all renting and someday

It ain't your face, it ain't your smile But somehow you're just like a child I'm never gonna have to wrassle When you get drunk, when you get vexed I know so well what's coming next Yeah, I'm a know-it-all Sorry for the hassle You remind me of me You remind me of me You remind me of me When I'm being and asshole Well make that face, tell those lies Who am I to criticize If fucking up was real estate I'd have a castle I'm just watching some uncool Ceremony at my old school They're graduating jerks You got your tassel You remind me of me You remind me of me You remind me of me When I'm being and asshole It ain't your face, it ain't your smile Somehow you're just like a child I'm never gonna have that hassle 'cause we all fail and don't deceive It's hard to watch, not to believe And if you'd been Eve You'da ate that snake before you hit that apple You remind me of me You remind me of me You remind me of me When I'm being and asshole You remind me of me You remind me of me You remind me of me When I'm being and asshole

about

"Delivered with grit, conviction, truth" - American Songwriter

“HEAP’s tough pop sensibilities stick in your head... Factor in left-of-the-dial vulnerability and you’ve got something that’s loud and moving.” - The Village Voice

Does this mean anything to you: Continental, Coney Island High, Lakeside, Hanks’. Well, even if it doesn’t, you probably have one in your hometown - the kind of dives that real rock and roll bands play, while your feet stick to the floor. You know the place.

HEAP are rock and roll band from NYC. They played all those legendary places in NYC and they’d play in that one place in your town.

Rock and roll is a feeling. So imagine this and try to feel it:

Kids who came up from the CB’s hard-core matinees when they were 12. Kids whose relatives were cops and/or going to the island meant visiting time rather than a jitney. Fights at White Castle. That’s where songs come from. Crowded sweaty rooms, beer floors, sirens outside, NYC percolating. Always summer even when its winter. And you all have broken hearts, fucked up friends, and frustrations galore where you might find yourself. You’ll feel it in this band’s songs.

But WAIT! It is actually about the songs! If Westerberg was from Brooklyn, and you dig the pathos of Lonely Planet Boy. And now they have a new EP. It’s produced by another one of those guys, Eric Ambel (Del Lords, Joan Jett!!!) who has his own legend, and it rocks. The song “No Mas” spingles it in with those early Replacements guitars, then it hits you, I’ve had this song in my head since I first loved this kind of music and now someone wrote it. (Roberto Duran said it, but Tim Heap wrote it, editor please complain…) Then there’s “Renting,”which could be very cool Keef, then there is this other song, “You Remind Me of Me”, in which the actual line is …”you remind me of me, when I’m being and asshole.” OK, who doesn’t wish they’d written that line or at least has not felt it. With the aforementioned feet sticking to the floor. HEAP, man.
